While graphic design has advanced through the progression of ages, traditional formats, like printmaking, have become less and less popular. It was my mission to free myself from the computer and delve into a tactile form of design craft. The digitization of graphic design is extremely fast paced—while accurate, inkjet printers, do not match the luxury and richness that printmaking inks encompass. Through serigraphy, I was able to transform my sketchbook into large scale art pieces suitable for for any blank wall. Experimentation with transparencies and overlapping allowed me to escape from the traditional flatness of interlocking matrices and further develop my knowledge in color theory. The culmination of my serigraphs resulted in a gallery exhibition in Lewes, DE. Small variations of hue were carefully mixed to present active color schemes. Embracing and supporting the architecture, my serigraphs comprise of color, shape, and form relationships—each essential for any design process.
